Tomas Matus is a post-doctoral fellow from Santiago de Chile, working on genomics and transcriptomics (a.k.a. functional genomics) of fruit crops such as grape and tomato.
-
In particular, he studies how to improve the quality of the fruits by increasing pigments, aromas and different types of antioxidants.
-
Although it’s quite related to his research project on grapevine, Tomas really likes wine tasting. During his PhD in Santiago de Chile, he became a professional sommelier, and since then he regularly gathers people for tasting and comparing wines from different countries.
