Ferran Sanchez is a PhD student from Barcelona (Catalonia). In the lab, he studies how plants respond to biotic stress caused by fungal pathogens.
-
In particular, he’s improving an infection assay to test the interaction between rice plants and Magnaporthe oryzae, which provokes the rice blast, one of the most economically devastating diseases for cereal crops.
-
Ferran lives in Barcelona (Catalonia) and has a garden in his place. As he loves tropical plants, he built a small greenhouse where he spends his free time taking care of orchids, carnivorous plants and tumbleweed.
