Ferran Sanchez

Inside the LAB

  • Ferran Sanchez is a PhD student from Barcelona (Catalonia). In the lab, he studies how plants respond to biotic stress caused by fungal pathogens.

  • In particular, he’s improving an infection assay to test the interaction between rice plants and Magnaporthe oryzae, which provokes the rice blast, one of the most economically devastating diseases for cereal crops.

    Outside the LAB

    • Ferran lives in Barcelona (Catalonia) and has a garden in his place. As he loves tropical plants, he built a small greenhouse where he spends his free time taking care of orchids, carnivorous plants and tumbleweed.
